Math Calculators

Free math calculators for everyday problems — percentages, fractions, averages, area, volume, and more. Pick the tool you need.

What are Math Calculators?

Math calculators are tools that solve specific types of math problems — percentages, fractions, averages, geometry, and more. Unlike a basic calculator that only does arithmetic, each tool here is designed for a particular problem type and shows you the formula, steps, and result.

These calculators cover the math most people actually need: figuring out a tip percentage, splitting fractions in a recipe, calculating square footage for a room, or finding the average of a set of grades.

Which Math Calculator Should I Use?

Finding a percentage: Use the Percentage Calculator to find X% of a number, what percent one number is of another, or the whole from a part and percentage.

Comparing two values: Use the Percentage Change Calculator to find the increase or decrease between an old and new value — useful for price changes, salary raises, or growth metrics.

Working with fractions: Use the Fraction Calculator to add, subtract, multiply, or divide fractions. Results are automatically simplified.

Finding an average: Use the Average Calculator to calculate the mean of any set of numbers — grades, prices, measurements, or anything else.

Measuring space: Use the Area Calculator for 2D shapes (floor space, walls, land) or the Volume Calculator for 3D shapes (tanks, containers, rooms).

Travel & motion: Use Speed Distance Time to calculate any of the three when you know the other two.

Common Math Formulas

Frequently Asked Questions

What math calculators are available? +
CalculatorSwitch offers free math calculators including percentage, fraction, percentage change, average, area, volume, speed/distance/time, and random number generator. Each handles a specific type of everyday math problem.
How do I calculate a percentage? +
To find X% of a number, multiply the number by X and divide by 100. For example, 15% of 200 = 200 × 15 ÷ 100 = 30. To find what percentage one number is of another, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100.
How do I calculate percentage change? +
Percentage change = ((New Value - Old Value) ÷ Old Value) × 100. A positive result means an increase, a negative result means a decrease. For example, a price going from $80 to $100 is a 25% increase.
What is the difference between mean, median, and mode? +
Mean is the sum of all values divided by the count. Median is the middle value when sorted. Mode is the most frequent value. Mean is affected by outliers, median is not.
How do I add and subtract fractions? +
First find a common denominator, then add or subtract the numerators. For example: 1/3 + 1/4 = 4/12 + 3/12 = 7/12. For multiplication, multiply numerators together and denominators together. For division, flip the second fraction and multiply.
How do I calculate area and volume? +
Area formulas: rectangle = length × width, circle = pi × radius squared, triangle = 1/2 × base × height. Volume formulas: box = length × width × height, cylinder = pi × radius squared × height, sphere = 4/3 × pi × radius cubed.
